Status Description

Amber

Requires initiation or recommendation by a specified member of the Hospital Specialist Team. Suitable for continuation by a GP, with appropriate supporting documents. No written shared care agreement necessary  

Amber SCG

As for Amber, but suitable for continuation by a GP within written and agreed shared care frameworks, and according to the agreed process for transfer of care of those drugs  

Black

Not routinely commissioned.  

Green

May be initiated and continued in primary, secondary and tertiary care  

Grey

No formal commissioning position at present.  

Red

Can only be prescribed by a hospital specialist
